The golden eagle is a bird of prey living in the Northern Hemisphere. It is the most widely distributed species of eagle. Like all eagles, it belongs to the family Accipitridae.

Recorded in United States of America, Sweden, France, Canada, Spain, Norway and Denmark (North America and Europe).
Most records fall in Pennsylvania, Nordjylland, California, Kalmar, Skåne and Uppsala.
